Sustainability

Rhode Planning wants to be part of the solution when it comes to lessening the environmental impact of the convention and meeting industry. We actively source the newest, cleanest running vehicles in each of our markets, as well as partner with like-minded suppliers.

Rhode Planning was the first company to incorporate an all-electric, autonomous passenger vehicle into the shuttle program for clients in Las Vegas.

United Motorcoach Association

According to the United Motorcoach Association (UMA), motorcoaches reduce congestion, alleviate roadway wear, reduce pollution, and conserve fuel through mass transportation. Each motorcoach utilized as a convention shuttle can effectively remove 36 automobiles from the streets.

Fuel Efficiency in Diesel Engines

Diesel fuel powered engines are the most energy-efficient internal combustion powerplants, ones that now achieve near-zero emissions with increasing fuel efficiency (which means lower CO2 emissions) and are capable of utilizing low-carbon renewable biofuels. The latest generation of advanced diesel technology is working today to help cool a warming planet. The latest diesel engines have the technology to virtually eliminate particulate (black carbon) emissions.

Motorcoaches are the most fuel-efficient transportation mode in the United States when measured in terms of passenger miles per gallon of fuel and have the lowest carbon footprint of 12 different forms of passenger transportation, including all types of automobiles, rail and jets. Additionally, the motorcoach industry is constantly moving to cleaner diesel vehicles through retrofits and fleet upgrades.

Paperless Operation

Through our ongoing process development, Rhode Planning has steadily moved towards an onsite paperless operation. All driver assignments and passenger/bus tracking are now recorded and submitted via a mobile device. This has not only reduced our need for paper-based information but has increased our efficiency during client events.

“Motorcoaches are the industry fuel conservation leader by achieving 240 passenger miles per gallon (MPG) of fuel as compared to 28 passenger MPG of a passenger car and 50 passenger MPG of a hybrid car.”
